The season started with a number of close games which St. Mary’s lost, having lost the opener to Sherfield-on-loddon and winning at St. Cross we then lost to Odiham by one wicket in the final over, the following week losing to Hartley Wintney by 7 runs and then against Basingstoke having looked completely out of it a final wicket partnership between Ali & Keith saw victory a couple of shots away before losing. This then saw St. Mary’s put an excellent run together beating Crown Taverners, Old Basing, AWE Tadley, Donington & Holybourne before facing the top of the table and unbeaten Herriard, unfortunately only being able to field 9 players St. Mary’s were hammered and also happened when we had to face high flying Oakley with a very weak side. But all in all a very good season, eventually winning 9 and losing 6 of which 3 were very close finishes. In terms of batting, James Buckland (Jambo) led the way not only with the bat but also in captaining a majority of the matches. He led with the bat scoring 358 runs at an average of 33, with 1 century and 2 50s (120, 58 & 56) in addition Ty Wilkinson hit the highest score of the season against Donington hitting 127 not out off just 62 balls, not far behind was Tom Woodbridge (Woody) scoring his maiden century with 124 not out off 115 balls in our final match of the season against Ramsdell. Alex Vile narrowly missed out on a century with 98 not out at Crown Taverners also Toby Winterbottom (73), Stephen Reid (62), Tom Lee (58 not out), Ali Kanjee (54) and Prasad Philips (51) all hit half centuries. Bowling Stevie Reid (in addition to his excellent batting) led the way with 21 wickets with Satheesh Periyasamy taking 19. Stevie finished the season with the remarkable 5 for 6 off 8 overs and Satheesh had the best figures of the season with 6 for 28 against AWE Tadley. Again thanks to Jambo for shouldering a lot of the captaincy and helping out in so many ways. A good season finishing sixth, but could have been even better if we had won through on those tight finishes. Batting Averages
