Batting Averages I write this summary of 2020 following the strangest season St. Mary’s have ever had. The Covid-19 crisis forced the suspension of the Hampshire Cricket League and no cricket until the 18th July. In place of the HCL a new competition the Vector cup was created which was a league for some of the local North Hampshire teams. The league started with a thrashing from Whitchurch who were clearly too good for the division. The match against Overton was a thriller entering the final over with Overton batting and any result possible, but in the end Overton managed a one wicket victory. Defeats followed against Donnington & East Woodhay before St. Mary’s picked up their sole victory in a thriller at our friends Oakley. Perhaps we should have won our final match against Odiham too, so just one win but some very close matches and possibly a quite different season if we had managed to win some of those close matches.
